Wow! It’s been a while.. again.

But if you know anything about Texas summers, you’ll understand that very few families are super excited to wonder around outside during the hottest time of the day, sweating & thirsty, and trying their hardest to smile through the blistering heat. There hasn’t been much to blog about! (Until now.)

I was watching TV (in the glorious AC) and thought to myself,

“Wait! I can write up another guide blog!”

And what better guide than the Style Guide!?

Todays topic: Shoes!

This post is for the girls who are all about the finer things in life, the little details. When picking out your average outfit, shoes are typically the last choice you make. You throw on your old tennis shoes and head out the doors, or maybe some Crocs or Hey Dudes, whatever it may be. You don’t typically put a ton of thought into it. But when planning your families outfits for professional photos, I urge you to do the complete opposite!

Put all of your thoughts into the shoes! When you have a stunning outfit planned, you want to compliment it, not distract from it! Your gorgeous sundress deserves much better than beat up Nikes, or your old boots that are past their prime. Instead, try a gorgeous pair of strappy sandals, are a charming pair of flats. Maybe you’re going for a more western vibe? Now is your chance to get that beautiful new pair of boots you’ve been eyeing!

Here’s a tip: When picking the style of shoe, consider the length of your dress. Wearing a long flowy dress? Opt for a nice pair of flats or sandals. You’re shoes won’t be seen quite as much, so keep it simple! Wearing a cocktail length sundress? Consider shoes with a heel. (Like high heels or booties!) These will elongate a womens legs and force constant tension in the calves, making them appear more toned!

Another factor to consider: The weather.

Is it chilly outside? Show off those awesome new knee high boots! Maybe it’s warm? Now is your opportunity to show off that cute new pedicure with you favorite pair of strappy sandals.

There are so many ways to elevate your outfit when it comes to footwear. And it can truly make all the difference on camera!
