My photographer heart is 100% full after this dreamy late-summer maternity session in Hutto, Texas.

The Derretts are back, and Hollyn is looking more gorgeous than ever. I’ve had the absolute honor of photographing so many seasons of their story, and this session felt extra special as they prepare to welcome their sweet baby girl.

There are some sessions that you leave feeling like everything just fell perfectly into place, and this was definitely one of them.

Looking back at how much this beautiful couple has grown together honestly makes me a little teary-eyed. I first photographed the Derretts when they were high school sweethearts. Since then, I’ve had the privilege of photographing so many of their biggest milestones—from their engagement photos to this beautiful maternity session, and soon, their little princess’s newborn photos. Being able to document these moments throughout the years is something I never take for granted. There’s something incredibly special about watching two people grow together and getting to capture the next chapter of their story. I truly feel so blessed to be a small part of their journey.

This session in particular was so dreamy, and dare I say, almost perfect?

As soon as we arrived, my photographer heart started jumping with joy. The light was soft and beautiful, the location was stunning, and everything came together in a way that made it so easy to create the kind of images I had been envisioning, and Hollyn was absolutely glowing. Pregnancy is such a beautiful, fleeting season, and I wanted to capture all of those little details—the excitement, the love between them, the anticipation of meeting their little girl, and the quiet moments that they’ll want to remember years from now.

There is something so special about maternity sessions because you’re not just photographing a growing belly. You’re documenting the very beginning of a whole new chapter.

Knowing that these photos will soon be followed by newborn photos makes this session even more special. Soon, they will become a family of three and I couldn’t be more thrilled for them, and this season of waiting will become a memory. Until then, I hope these photographs always remind the Derretts of this little pocket of time—the excitement, the anticipation, and the love they already had for their sweet girl before they ever got to hold her.

I am so incredibly excited to meet their little princess and document that next chapter for them.
