Style Guide: The blog edition

One of the first questions clients always ask is “What do I wear?!”

Fret not! I have a one-of-a-kid, hand crafted Style Guide that provides the best of the best tips + tricks for outfit selection, hair and makeup recommendations, prepping kiddos (and your man) for the session, and so much more!

But I had this (hopefully awesome) idea to share some of those tips + tricks here on the blog, so you know what to expect from the very start.

Let’s dig right in!

We’ll start with how many outfits to plan. When booking a Classic experience I highly recommend you plan for one jaw dropping outfit. We will only have 25 minutes together, and you don’t want to spend any of it changing outfits! For anyone (e.g families, couples) booking a Signature Experience you could plan up to two outfits for maximum shooting time, and to add a little variety to your final gallery of photos. For couples and small families booking a Luxury Experience you have the option to plan (up to) a total of three stunning outfits for maximum variety and shooting time!

Speaking of outfit planning… Take advantage of this session and buy that gorgeous dress you’ve been eyeing, and dress it up! You want to look back at these photos and LOVE your outfits! Don’t be afraid to dress up in you Sunday Best, I promise you won’t regret it! Trust me, I am a t-shirt and jeans kind of girl, but this is a special occasion! (And don’t forget the shoes!) Pairing the right shoes to your gorgeous outfit can make a world of difference! Keep outfit choices in mind especially when it comes to your man! Not all, but most, aren’t super excited for posing in front of a camera, and aren’t immediately freaking out about what they are going to wear. Helping them when it comes to coordinating colors & styles, and deciding what looks nice will not only help them, but help you! The last thing you want is to discover that they picked out sweat pants and a t-shirt when it’s time to start getting ready!

And last but not least mixing and coordinating colors for the whole family. If you take anything from this post, or the Style Guide, please let it be this. Matching is NOT the way to go! Coordinating is. If you’re wearing a beautiful beige dress, put your man in a well-fitted sage green button up, and your kiddo in a pale (or deeper, but muted) green dress or overalls with a lighter/ white undershirt or leggings! I promise that coordinating outfits, rather than matching, will make the biggest difference in your final photos, and you absolutely will not regret it!

The full Session Prep & Style Guide has all of this info, and sooo much more! This is just the tip of the very important iceberg! If you’re wanting you photos to turn out as gorgeous as the ones you see on my website and social media accounts, follow these simple tips, and jaw dropping photos are calling your name!
