So, You Want To Propose?

So, you want to propose?

First of all… YAY!!! I am so beyond excited for you!

Secondly… Let’s say you wanted to hire a photographer to capture said proposal… How would you do that, and *not* spoil the surprise? I’m here to help you figure that out!

There are a couple ways we can go about your surprise proposal session. Do you want a private more intimate proposal? (this is REALLY important!) Is it just you and your partner? Maybe you want just a few close friends and family members present, or will *everyone* be there? How we plan this session depends heavily on your answer to the question above.

Now it’s time to get into the juicy stuff. What are your options? Let’s talk about the two of them:

1. It’s just like any other session…

Well, sort of. We want it to *seem* like any other session. (but really it’s the most magical session ever!!) How do we make it seem like a ‘regular’ session, you ask? It’s actually way easier than you’d think. When you’re filling out the inquiry form, there is a section where you explain your vision for your session.. Explain that you would like a surprise proposal, and I’ll respond as if it was just a ‘regular’ couples session. (I’ll respond this way no matter which route you choose to take.) After we chat like we would for any other type of session, we will schedule your time and date, and talk about cues (aka how we can communicate to one another that it’s *time* while on location and physically taking your pictures!)

2. I become Austin Powers

I become a super secret spy… but I’m still my goofy self.

This route is pretty self-explanatory. I hide (sometimes in plain sight), and snap pictures of you popping the question before your future fiancé even realizes that I’m there! But before any of that stuff happens, we will set up a cue so that we can both be ready.

Okay so now we have two options for the actual session itself. But how do we PLAN the session without spoiling the surprise? There are a couple of ways to do that. Your first, and easiest option, is to create a new email and communicate with me with that email *only*. No phone calls or texts. And if you want to be extra careful, turn off all notifications for that email.. Just don’t forget to periodically check your inbox for follow ups and/or responses from me! Your next option is to meet with me in person, and discuss all the details in one single meeting. It might be a long meeting, so bring a pen and paper! (Just don’t let your future fiancé find your notes!)

And that is all for planning and executing your super secret, super magical proposal session!

Okay, so… What now?

Now it’s time to talk engagement session.

A proposal session can be a very overwhelming and emotional one, tears may or may not be shed. In my professional photographer opinion it is best to plan your engagement session for a later date. This way your fiancé can not only partake in planning the engagement session, but they aren’t feeling *all* the emotions and the session can flow smoothly.

Okay so, again.. What now?

Now it’s time to PLAN!

Let’s set up your super secret proposal session, and make some magical memories! I am so excited for you and your future bride (or groom!)
