There are some sessions that feel effortless from the very beginning, and Lauren and Parker’s maternity session was absolutely one of them. From the moment we started photographing, these two were completely themselves in front of the camera—laughing, joking, cuddling, and making my job feel ridiculously easy.

This session was especially exciting for me because it was my first time photographing at Booty’s Crossing Park in Georgetown, Texas, and I have to say… I think I found a new favorite location. Between the open fields, greenery, and beautiful evening light, it ended up being the perfect backdrop for this season of their lives.

And, of course, the sweetest part of the evening was the little girl we were there to celebrate: Bowie Rae.

Lauren arrived in a beautiful white, lacey dress that fit the feeling of the evening perfectly. Soft, simple, and timeless, it moved beautifully through the photographs and paired so naturally with the warm greens and golden tones surrounding us.

Parker wore a neutral button-down and jeans, which ended up giving the session that cozy, relaxed feeling we were going for. The overall aesthetic felt somewhere between an evening spent wandering through the park and a laid-back picnic date—with just enough sweetness and intention to make it feel like a celebration.

But honestly, what stood out most wasn’t what they were wearing or even the location.

It was them.

Lauren and Parker were both so outgoing and comfortable in front of the camera. They didn’t need much direction to interact naturally, and there was no shortage of laughter throughout the evening. There is something so special about photographing a couple who genuinely enjoys being around each other, because those little moments between the “poses” become some of my favorite images.

There were plenty of sweet moments between the two of them—soft kisses, hands resting on Lauren’s belly, and the kind of laughter that makes you forget you’re even taking pictures.

And then we had to have a little fun with little miss Bowie’s first photoshoot…

One of my favorite moments from the entire session happened when we recreated one of those classic maternity photos where both parents place their hands around the mom’s belly.

Except… we switched things up.

Instead of Lauren’s belly being the star of the photo, we recreated the pose around Parker’s belly!

It was completely ridiculous in the best possible way, and it felt so perfectly them. Moments like that are exactly why I love lifestyle-inspired sessions. Yes, we want beautiful portraits, but I also want to capture the personalities, inside jokes, and little pieces of a relationship that you’ll actually remember years from now.

Okay.. Back to business!

As the sun started getting lower, the entire park seemed to glow. The warm evening light filtered through the trees and created that soft golden-hour look that I absolutely love for maternity sessions.

We took our time moving around the park, letting the evening unfold naturally rather than making everything feel overly posed.

And after spending an evening at Booty’s Crossing for the first time, I completely understand why it has become a new favorite of mine. It offered so many different looks within one location while still keeping the session feeling peaceful and natural.

There was something incredibly fitting about spending this particular evening outside, surrounded by warm light and wide-open space, documenting the two of them before their family grows by one.

Maternity sessions are about so much more than documenting a growing belly. They are about remembering who you were right before everything changed. For Lauren and Parker, this season is about becoming parents to Bowie Rae. It is the anticipation, the excitement, the laughter, and all of the little moments before they get to meet the tiny person they’ve already made so much room for in their hearts.

I loved that their session wasn’t overly serious. It was romantic, but it was also playful. It was beautiful, and it still felt like them. And I think that combination made these photographs so special.

Lauren and Parker, thank you for letting me spend this evening with you and for trusting me to capture what matters most to you. I hope when you look back at these photographs years from now, you remember not only how beautiful this season was, but also how much fun you had waiting for your sweet Bowie Rae.

And Bowie—your parents are already pretty crazy about you.
